Rebuilding Diary
Two weeks on - 8 July 2011
The builders have now been working for two weeks. Mostly, this has involved getting the site ready for building work to begin, including the creation of a 'compound' for the builder's and the architect's site offices, a tool store and the site security centre. Our trusty static caravan, which doubles up as Annandale Distillery's office, and the location of many planning meetings and tasty lunches over the past four years (since we bought the distillery) has also been moved to the compound.
A new access road has been created alongside the Bonded Warehouses which will ease traffic flow during construction and after the distillery is in operation. The giant spoil heap, which resulted from the archaeological excavations conducted by Glasgow University (GUARD), has been removed, giving the site a more open and airy feel. Scaffolding work has begun and Kirkwood's long reach crane has arrived on site, ready to be erected.
