They will arrive with us shortly after being freshly emptied by the family run Château Briatte winery situated in the heart of the Sauternes appellation, just west of Preignac, in France, famed for producing the finest desert wine in the world.
These barrels will be filled with award winning Annandale peated and unpeated new make malt spirit as soon as they arrive at Annandale to maintain high cask quality.
Notes to expect from these casks having housed the delectable Sauterne wine for 2 to 3 years will include beautiful sweet notes of Honey, melon, apricots and peach as well as notes of marmalade and cocoa butter. The sweeter side of this profile will work wonderfully well with the peated spirit balancing the smoke, but equally we are sure the unpeated spirit will gain a depth and structure that will be highly regarded.
