1610 at The Globe Inn is proud to announce that Head Chef Fraser Cameron has been named the inaugural winner of the ‘Legacy Scholarship’ at the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards 2025. This prestigious new award, created to commemorate the historic first-ever MICHELIN Guide Ceremony held in Scotland earlier this year, recognizes an outstanding up-and-coming chef with a passion for Scottish produce and a commitment to the future of the nation’s culinary scene.

As the recipient of the scholarship, Cameron will undertake a unique five-day stage at the world-renowned Ritz Hotel in London, where he will be mentored by Executive Chef John Williams MBE. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will provide invaluable experience in a world-class kitchen.

Fraser Cameron’s dedication to celebrating Scotland’s larder and his commitment to culinary excellence were key factors in his selection. In his role at 1610 at The Globe Inn, he has focused on cultivating strong relationships with the finest local and Scottish producers. Additionally, he has played a vital role in the development of the Comlongon Kitchen Garden, which supplies fresh, seasonal produce to both 1610 at The Globe Inn and Annandale Distillery.

“It is an absolute honour to have won this scholarship. Opportunities like this rarely come around, and to have won this inaugural award fills me with so much pride,” said Cameron. “The chance to learn and grow in a business that is not only leading the way in food, but in sustainability, passion, refinement, and elegance, is key to my personal development.”

Cameron also emphasized his desire to share his experience with the next generation of chefs. “This scholarship opens up the opportunity to pass on any knowledge I learn to my team and the next generation of young talent, all while being an ambassador for Scotland Food & Drink and creating a memory of the historic first MICHELIN awards in Scotland. It truly is a once-in-a-lifetime, money-can’t-buy opportunity.”

The Legacy Scholarship was created by Scotland Food & Drink in partnership with HIT Scotland as a lasting legacy of the MICHELIN Guide Ceremony for Great Britain & Ireland taking place in Scotland for the first time in 2025. With a growing number of MICHELIN-starred restaurants, including Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles and The Glenturret Lalique, Scotland is a rising star in the global culinary world. This scholarship aims to provide a stepping stone for talented chefs to advance their careers and showcase the incredible development opportunities available within the country.
