For the first time, Annandale is releasing an unpeated single cask single malt fully matured in an ex-Oloroso sherry hogshead, sourced from our exclusive partner, José y Miguel Martín of Jerez.
Traditionally, our sherry expressions have been matured in larger butts, but in recent years we’ve chosen hogsheads to better suit the natural character of our spirit, orchard-fruit-forward and flavoursome thanks to our Jim Swan–designed twin copper spirit stills. The more active maturation in these smaller casks creates whiskies of depth and richness that far exceed their years.
At just five years old, this release demonstrates exactly that. Limited to 328 bottles and bottled at natural cask strength 60.9% ABV, it opens with crème brûlée, cinnamon, red fruits, and a touch of herbs on the nose. The palate unfolds with indulgent layers of raisins, sponge cake, dates, and demerara sugar, before finishing with sweet fruits and warming wood spice. A vibrant example of what can be created through deliberate spirit design, exceptional cask selection, and Annandale’s single cask philosophy.
