228l barrels from Distillerie Busnel, one of the oldest and finest Calvados producers (Est. 1820) in the appellation Calvados du Pays d’Auge, Normandy, France. They used to hold the exquisite and rich apple brandy ‘AOC BUSNEL 12-year-old Prestige Reserve’ before they were shipped to us in Annan. We anticipate that the barrel staves will impart flavours of dark chocolate, dried fruits and astringency, which will complement Annandale Distillery’s orchard fruit character and create a splendid malt in the future.
